Malott reaches milestone in Madison girls win

GIRLS BASKETBALL

MADISON 72, PREBLE SHAWNEE 14: Ally Malott became the first female in Madison High School history to reach 1,000 points in a career on Thursday night, Jan. 28. The junior scored 21 points to lead her team to a Southwestern Buckeye League Buckeye Division win over Preble Shawnee. Malott entered the game with 992 points and now has 1,013 for her career. Senior teammate Lindsay Hoskins scored 13 points against the Arrows and now has 806 points for her career, ranking her second on the all-time scoring list behind Malott. Madison (17-0, 9-0), the state’s No. 4-ranked team in Division III, will host Dixie next Thursday.

CARLISLE 45, NEWTON 24: Carlisle now has won back-to-back games with its 21-point victory over visiting Newton on Thursday, Jan. 28. Alexis Murphy and Donna Holbrook each scored 16 points to lead the host Indians (12-4). Newton (5-11) was led by Marina Snipes with 11. Carlisle travels to New Miami on Saturday for a 4:30 p.m. tipoff.

MONROE 36, DIXIE 29: Krystal Gaston scored eight points to lead Monroe in a Southwestern Buckeye League Buckeye Division win over Dixie on Thursday, Jan. 28. Rachel Williams added seven points and Allycin Foster had six for the Hornets (6-9, 5-4), who will host Valley View on Saturday.

FRANKLIN 46, EATON 30: The Wildcats got back on the winning track with a Southwestern Buckeye League Southwestern Division win over Eaton on Thursday, Jan. 28. Brandi McDaniel had 13 points to lead Franklin, and Danielle Williams added 11. The Wildcats (9-7, 5-3) will travel to Eaton on Monday.

MIDDLETOWN CHRISTIAN 40, EMMANUEL CHRISTIAN 24: Paige Huntsberger and Catelyn Radeck each scored 10 points to lead the host Eagles to a Metro Buckeye Conference win on Thursday, Jan. 28. Ashley Oren led all players with 13 points for Emmanuel Christian. MCS (6-10) will host Dayton Christian on Monday.
