Franklin girls earn SWBL Southwestern road win

GIRLS BASKETBALL

FRANKLIN 49, EATON 39: The Wildcats rallied from a 24-24 halftime tie with host Eaton to win the Southwestern Buckeye League Southwestern Division contest on Monday, Feb. 1. It was the second win in a row for Franklin (10-7, 6-3 SWBL Southwestern). Brandi McDaniel led FHS with 25 points and Kristen Gebhardt added 12. Maggie Neanen led Eaton with 19 points. Franklin will host Brookville on Thursday.

VALLEY VIEW 49, WEST CARROLLTON 29: A huge second quarter helped the Spartans snap a five-game losing streak on Monday, Feb. 1. Valley View outscored the Pirates 25-8 in the second period to cruise to the nonleague win. Brooke Lewis and Mallory Wright each scored nine points to lead Valley View (7-9). Andrea Gibbs added eight in the win. The Spartans travel to Eaton on Thursday.

PREBLE SHAWNEE 53, UNION COUNTY (Ind.) 42: Taylor Withrow and Ashley Bratton combined for 33 points in leading the Arrows to their third win of the season on Monday, Feb. 1. Withrow had a game-high 18 points, followed by Bratton’s 15. Preble Shawnee (3-13) cruised to a 41-25 lead after three quarters and held on down the stretch. The Arrows will host Carlisle on Thursday.

DAYTON CHRISTIAN 56, MIDDLETOWN CHRISTIAN 22: Dayton Christian held the Eagles to single digits in each of the four quarters in rolling to a Metro Buckeye Conference win on Monday, Feb. 1. Lisa Weber led Dayton Christian with 14 points. Karla Yanes led Middletown Christian with seven. MCS (6-11, 3-7 MBC) will host Yellow Springs on Thursday.
