TRENTON — The Edgewood High School boys basketball team secured its first victory of the season by becoming a team that refused to quit in a game that almost refused to die, beating Norwood in quadruple overtime 65-62 Tuesday night.
The contest was tied 42-42 at the end of regulation. Edgewood trailed by five with a minute left in the second overtime, but a steal and basket by Mason Buck and a 3-point play completed by Chance Conley sent the game to a fourth overtime.
Back led the Cougars (1-11, 1-6 Fort Ancient Valley Conference) with 22 points, Conley scored 17 and Cody Hall finished with 12.
Glenn Frank scored 26 points for Norwood (8-5, 2-5 FAVC).
Carlisle 59, Milton-Union 39: Host Carlisle pulled away in the second half to win their eighth straight game.
Andrew Goodpaster scored 17 points to lead Carlisle (9-4 overall, 6-2 Southwestern Buckeye League Buckeye Division). Jon Back added 13.
Middletown Christian 56, Emmanuel Christian 50: The Eagles moved to 9-4 overall and 4-2 in the Metro Buckeye Conference with the road victory.
Drew King scored 13 points and Zach Wise and Zach Henderson added 12 apiece for MCS.
Bellbrook 81, Valley View 61: The visiting Golden Eagles outscored the Spartans 47-32 in the second half on their way to a SWBL Southwestern win.
Zack Denny scored 17 to pace Valley View (9-5, 5-3).
Eaton 41, Monroe 36: Manny Boateng scored 11 points to lead the Hornets, who fell to 3-12 overall and 2-6 in SWBL Southwestern play.
