Central Michigan University senior sprinter Dierra Riley won the 60-meter dash in a photo finish Jan. 27 at Saginaw Valley State’s “The Cardinal” indoor track & field meet.
Riley, a Middletown High School graduate, edged Saginaw’s Leslie Mitchell by one hundredth of a second. The winning time was 7.82 seconds.
Last weekend at Notre Dame’s Meyo Invitational, Riley placed 17th in the 60 dash (7.75).
The Chippewas will compete in the Akron Invitational this weekend.
Women’s basketball
Senior guard Meredith Fox (Springboro) has made 18 starts this season and is Ohio Dominican’s second-leading scorer with a 10.5 average.
Fox paces the Panthers in assists (3.2) and steals (1.2, tied) while also averaging 4.2 rebounds per game.
Ohio Dominican is 6-15 overall and 2-13 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Panthers will host Hillsdale (Mich.) on Thursday.
Freshman center Chelsea Farrell (Fenwick) has played in eight games off the bench for Hillsdale (11-10, 7-7). She has six points, eight rebounds and three assists.
• Freshman guard Rachel DeBord (Lebanon) is playing 10.9 minutes per game off the bench for Bluffton, which is 8-13 overall and 6-8 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
DeBord is averaging 1.7 points and 1.9 boards per contest. The Beavers will travel to Manchester on Wednesday.
