The Brady Quinn era, such that it was, is officially over in Cleveland.
Quinn, the former Notre Dame quarterback who endured three frustrating seasons with the Cleveland Browns after being a first-round draft pick, was traded today, March 14, to the Denver Broncos for running back Peyton Hillis and two undisclosed draft choices.
“I appreciate everything Brady did for us last year and in his three seasons,” Browns coach Eric Mangini said in a statement. “He is professional in the way he goes about doing his job and worked extremely hard at every aspect of his game. I wish him the best of success in Denver.”
Hillis, 24, is a veteran of two NFL seasons who was a seventh-round draft choice of Denver in 2008. He played in 28 games with eight starts in his two years with the Broncos and totaled 397 yards rushing and six touchdowns on 81 attempts (4.9 avg.) and caught 18 passes for 198 yards and a touchdown.
The 6-2, 250-pound Hillis played collegiately at Arkansas.
Quinn became expendable once free agent Jake Delhomme agreed to a two-year contract on Friday.
