CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Bengals got former first-round pick Reggie Nelson from Jacksonville in a trade involving defensive backs.
The Jaguars got cornerback David Jones and a conditional draft pick in the deal, completed Saturday after teams made final cuts.
Nelson was the 21st overall pick in 2007 out of Florida. After a solid rookie season, he had only two interceptions the next two years, causing him to lose his starting job. The Bengals were looking for depth at safety after Gibril Wilson damaged ligaments in his left knee during the preseason.
Jones was an extra cornerback in three seasons with the Bengals, starting seven games in 2008 after Johnathan Joseph got hurt.
