TALAWANDA HALL TO INDUCT EIGHT: The Talawanda Athletic Hall of Fame will induct eight new members on Oct. 21 at the Heritage Room of the Shiver Center at Miami University. The inductees are Emily Bulach Garber (2002, soccer and basketball), Jeff Chabot (1990, football and basketball), Joyce Eaton Leyrer (1964, field hockey, cheerleading, volleyball, basketball and track), Don and Jane Kelly (THS Heart & Spirit Award), Jason Lindsey (1970, football, basketball, wrestling and track), Chris Miller (1973, football, basketball and track), Jesse Rhodenbaugh (2001, cross country, soccer and track) and Stacey Ritz (1998, cross country and track). Tickets are $30 each and can be purchased through the Talawanda athletic office by calling (513) 273-3205. RSVPs are requested by Oct. 15.
ROSS TO HOLD 3-ON-3 BASKETBALL TOURNEY: The Ross High School girls basketball program will hold a 3-on-3 basketball tournament for boys and girls ages 10 and over on Saturday, Oct. 23, starting at 10 a.m. The cost is $45 per team and is due by Oct. 16. BASKETBALL OFFICIATING CLASSES: Anyone, male or female, age 14 years and older is eligible to become a licensed referee. Classes will be held at 6 p.m. at the Hampton Bennett School in Franklin across from Franklin Community Park. Cost is $140 which includes rule book, examination fee and other associated items. SALVATION ARMY FORMING BASKETBALL LEAGUES: Youth basketball leagues are being formed a The Salvation Army in Hamilton for boys, ages 6-18, and girls, ages 6-15. Open registration will be held at The Salvation Army, 235 Ludlow St., from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19. The registration deadline is Oct. 20. MIDDLETOWN GIRLS YOUTH BASKETBALL REGISTRATION: Any girl in grades K-2 that attends Middletown City Elementary Schools, and is interested in playing basketball this winter, there will be registration and informational meetings from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 19-21 at Middletown High School. Cost for the league is $50 per player that must be paid in full at sign-ups. Practices will start the week of Oct. 25 and games will begin Nov. 13. TRYOUTS FOR MIDDLETOWN GIRLS YOUTH BASKETBALL: Any girl in grades 3-6 that lives in the Middletown City School District and is interested in playing basketball this winter, the Middletown coaching staff will be conducting tryouts from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 19-21 in the Paul Walker Gymnasium at Middletown High School. You must bring a copy of your birth certificate and be accompanied by an parent/guardian the first day so consent and medical forms can get filled out properly. WOMENS FOOTBALL TRYOUTS THIS MONTH: The Dayton Diamonds, proud members of the Womens Football Alliance, will be holding tryouts and conditioning through the month of October. Practices will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at John Wolfe Park, located at 4030 Denlinger Road in Trotwood.
