Easter egg hunts set to roll
Saturday, March 22, 2008
There are just a few more chances for area children to hunt Easter eggs this weekend.
Rain or shine, the annual Derrico Community Easter Egg Hunt will take place from 2 to 3:30 p.m. today, March 22, at the Middletown Community Center park on Lafayette Avenue. One of Middletown's largest egg hunts, about 350 kids attended last year's event, said organizer Roberta Derrico.
There will be free food and music. Officers from the Middletown Division of Police will be there handing out badges to the kids and every child will leave with a bag of goodies, Derrico said.
The event is for children ages 12 and younger. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Trenton
Trenton's annual Easter egg hunt will be held starting at 11 a.m. today at Trenton Community Park off Sal Boulevard. The hunt is for children 12 and younger and games will be offered afterward.
Monroe
The Monroe Lions Club will present its annual Easter Egg Hunt from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at the city's Community Park. The East Egg Hunt will be in three areas of the park: the area around the log cabin and front shelter house, the soccer field between the large parking lot and the cemetery and the soccer field that is east of that one, city officials said.
For safety reasons, city officials said, the large parking lot will be blocked off. Parking will be available west of the concession stand building and in the Monroe Swim Club parking lot, they said.
