Rue Dumaine gets proper accoclades

WASHINGTON TWP., Montgomery County — Last week, it was the Pine Club and Mike-Sell's Potato Chips garnering national print-media attention, courtesy of Saveur magazine. This week, Rue Dumaine is basking in the glow of national attention, in the form of a restaurant profile in a "Destination: Dayton" article in Restaurant Hospitality magazine, a monthly magazine geared toward those who work in the nation's food and hospitality industry. Here's what the magazine has to say about Rue Dumaine, which was opened by chef Anne Kearney and her husband, Tom Sand, last year at 1061 Miamisburg-Centerville Road: "Considering the caliber of the people preparing its food and running it, Rue Dumaine has to rank as the greatest bargain in food service right now." The magazine notes that a restaurant "has to carefully match its menu and prices to its market if it wants to succeed," and praises Rue Dumaine's entree prices (most less than $20) and wine list prices (by-the-glass list tops out at $9). "It's exactly the kind of pricing that will bring customers in and keep them coming back in a mid-scale market like Dayton," the magazine says.
