Area residents will get a chance to see their hometowns on DVD on Tuesday, Jan. 6, with the release of a locally filmed vampire movie.

Called "Immortally Yours" at the time of shooting in 2006, the movie is now titled "Kiss of the Vampire" for its DVD release. It will be available at outlets such as Blockbuster, Target, Amazon and Barnes & Noble, among many others, said one of its producers, James Garrett.

The movie filmed at various locations throughout Middletown, Hamilton and Dayton, including the former Schiavone's Restaurant and the former Swallen's building in Middletown, around the Historic Butler County Courthouse in Hamilton and Dayton's Masonic Temple.

The movie tells the story of Alex Stone, a vampire who craves mortality so he can spend his life with the woman he loves.

The film was conceived and written by actress Katherine Hawkes, who stars in the film. The director is Joe Tornatore, who has made numerous movies for the direct-to-video market, including "Grotesque," "Demon Keeper" and "Code Name: Zebra."

The movie took a while to be released because filmmakers spent several years editing and then finding a distributor, Garrett said.

"It turned out pretty good — not bad at all," he said of the finished product.

Garrrett, a Middletown native, helped bring the production to town to get the area known as an attractive location for filming.

Garrett is hoping to bring another project to film in the area in the near future.
