SEVEN MILE — A Seven Mile man is accused of abusing his 7-week-old daughter, who sheriff's deputies say suffered multiple fractures to both arms and a leg.

Eric Wilder, 28, of 303 Miami St., was arraigned Thursday, Dec. 11, on a charge of child endangerment, a third-degree felony.

Butler County Sheriff's deputies and Butler County Children Services workers were called to the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Liberty Campus just after 8 p.m. Tuesday after hospital staffers reported that Wilder's infant daughter, Elaina, had multiple fracture injuries to both arms and her right leg, said sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Monte Mayer.

He said deputies determined there was abuse and began an investigation that led to Wilder's arrest. Mayer did not know where the child's mother was at the time of the incident. He said both Wilder and his wife brought the child to the Liberty Twp. facility.

The infant was treated at the hospital and later was released. The baby is currently with her mother, Mayer said. No one was home Thursday at the modest two-story brick house at 303 Miami St. where Wilder, his wife and two daughters live.

Neighbors, who said they did not know the Wilder family well, were saddened and startled by the case.

"It's pretty unbelievable," said Tony Kimbrell, also of Miami Street. "He seems pretty easy-going." Kimbrell said his son told him Wilder is "supposed to be a pretty nice guy."

Casey Bicknell said she and her husband have lived next door to the Wilders for about a month.

Bicknell said she sees her neighbors on their way to church on Sunday, adding they were "pretty quiet." Bicknell said she met Wilder's wife when she was looking at the house she later bought.

Wilder was arraigned via video in Butler County Area III Court in West Chester Twp. before his release on a $50,000 bond from the Butler County Jail at 11:22 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11.

A preliminary hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. Dec. 16 at the Area III Court.

Wilder has had no previous incidents with the sheriff's office, Mayer said.

The incident remains under investigation, he said.
