5 things to do this weekend
Friday, November 21, 2008
1 Franklin High School students will be performing "30 Reasons Not to Be in a Play" at 7:30 p.m. today, Nov. 21, and Saturday, Nov. 22. Stage kisses, pinkeye, overzealous teacher-directors, stage fright and your Great Aunt Gladys — these are only a few of the many things that can go wrong during the production of a play. The cast and crew will bring you a full evening of the horrors and hardships that befall those who feel the "call of the stage." Tickets can be purchased at the door for $5. The doors will open at 6:45 p.m. each night, with cookies and punch after the show.
2 The Ralph Barker Band is slated to perform at 8 p.m. today, Nov. 21, at Bar-B-Q Junction, 4750 Roosevelt Blvd., in Middletown. Bar-B-Q Junction also will host a comedy night on Saturday, Nov. 22. The cover is $5.
3 Kathy's Kitchen at 5 W. Center St. in Germantown is showing the Bonnie Milligan Art Exhibit now through December. For information, call (937) 855-7150.
4 Christian comedy returns to the area with the latest edition of "Gospel Giggles," scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 22. The event takes place at Ware Banquet Center, 735 Cincinnati St., in Dayton, and is organized by Middletonian Sharonna Sinclair. Cost is $15-$30. For more information, call (513) 424-7214.
5 "Reflections on a Pond" by oil painter Kevin MacPherson is on display through Nov. 30 at the Middletown Arts Center. To check it out, head over to 130 N. Verity Parkway. Visit the MAC Web site at www.middletownartscenter.com for more details.
