1 Enjoy the fall season with a bonfire, hayrides, storytelling and family fun at the 4th annual Hot Dog Roast from 8 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Roscoe Roof Park, sponsored by the Carlisle Parks and Recreation Board. Bring your own chairs. Food will be available for purchase. Proceeds benefit the Carlisle parks and summer youth programs.

2 Follow the scent of sauerkraut to Waynesville for the annual Ohio Sauerkraut Festival. Activities take place from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12. For more info call (513) 897-8855.

3 The second annual Lyons & Lyons Park Run for PARACHUTE 5K race is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Fort Liberty Park, 6969 Van Gorden Road, Liberty Twp. PARACHUTE is a group devoted to helping abused and neglected children in Butler County. The cost is $25 and includes a T-shirt. To register, call (513) 867-5010.

4 The 2008 Cincinnati Walks for Kids event benefiting Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Coney Island. Only service dogs will be permitted. Walkers are asked to raise at least $25. For information, call (513) 636-2941.

5 The Mother's Exchange Winter Holiday Sale is scheduled for 8 p.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 11. It will be conducted at Lakota West High School, 8940 Union Centre Blvd., in West Chester Twp. Dozens of mothers will sell their "gently loved" items. Holiday decorations will also be sold. Admission to the event is $1 and all sales are cash only. For more information call (513) 779-4107.
