HAMILTON — Fire officials are blaming arson for three blazes Sunday afternoon, Oct. 5.
Crews were dispatched around 3:50 p.m. to the scene of a two-story building on fire at the corner of Fifth and Sycamore streets. On their way to that call, firefighters spotted a column of smoke billowing out of a coach garage at 320 S. Seventh St., said Hamilton Deputy Fire Chief Steve Dawson
While battling the Sycamore fire, a man approached crews to report someone attempted to start a fire in the doorway at 320 S. Fifth St., Dawson said.
He said that building sustained minimal damage, as the man doused the flames on his own before reporting the fire.
Dawson said he is sure all three incidents are linked, but would not provide any details, as he said doing so could compromise the investigation.
The three fires caused more than $30,000 in damages, he said.
No residents were injured in any of the incidents. One firefighter sustained a minor shoulder injury in the Sycamore Street blaze, said Hamilton Fire Chief Joe Schutte.
Anyone with information on any of the three incidents is asked to call fire investigator Tom Angst at (513) 785-7510. All calls are confidential, officials said.
