Sawyer Brown plays Legends
Thursday, September 18, 2008
JD Legends wraps up its concert series this weekend with a concert by the country group Sawyer Brown.
The band hadn't originally been on the schedule, but "We had an opportunity to bring in another strong country act to the area because that's what people want to see," said Steve Miller, a manager at JD Legends.
And then there's the added benefit that band member Mark Miller is from Germantown, Miller said. The band's official Web site called him the "creative catalyst" of the band.
The group first gained attention in 1983 on the talent show "Star Search." In the years since, they've racked up a number of hits, including "Some Girls Do," "The Dirt Road," "Hard To Say," "Step That Step,"
Also at JD Legends that same day is a car and bike show, featuring 50/50 drawings, activities for kids, trophies for the top 10 cars and top 5 cycles, and dash plaques for the first 50 cars.
