Neighbors describe shots as man found dead
Wednesday, August 13, 2008
TRENTON — Residents of a quiet neighborhood said they heard gunshots two nights before police found a man dead inside an Oak Avenue home Wednesday night.
Trenton officers and fire crews responded to a call shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, to 5 Oak Ave. Officers found a man dead inside the home, which is being treated as a crime scene.
Late Wednesday night, police had not released the victim's name or any details of his death.
Lt. Timothy Traud said when officers responded a female was standing outside the home. Investigators with the Butler County Coroner's Office were assisting Trenton police.
A fan was placed at the front door of the home to circulate the air inside, as officers were seen investigating inside and outside the home and interviewing some neighbors. Oak Avenue was blocked off between Marcia Drive and First Street. Authorities were also seen towing away a pick up truck.
Kim Davis, of nearby Foxcroft Place, said she heard two loud gunshots, "boom, boom," late Monday night, Aug. 11. Davis said she dismissed them as fireworks, but remembered her first impressions while police investigated the scene.
"I thought for sure I heard gunshots," Davis said.
Trenton police are asking for assistance in the case. If you have information, you are asked to call Det. Blake Brown at (513) 988-6341.
