American Legion Hall feels electric shock

Group appeals to public to assist with bill.

The Middletown American Legion Hall could use a little help from some friends.

Post 218 is $5,000 behind on its electric bill, and if the money is not paid, the power will be shut off.

To avoid working in the dark, John Lovely, the local hall commander, has appealed to area businesses for financial support.

"We are a proud group of men and women who work diligently to serve our area community; however, we are in need of your help..." Lovely wrote in the letter sent to businesses.

Duke Electric officials said they cannot discuss acounts.

Contributions are tax deductible, and should be sent to 116 S. Main St., care of Don Cridlebaugh, the finance officer.
