MASON — The Mason City Schools Board of Education approved a $2.8 million naming rights agreement today, July 14, with Atrium Medical Center.

The 23-year agreement solidifies naming rights for Atrium to re-name the high school stadium Atrium Stadium at Dwire Field and also a fitness building, which officials said could be named Atrium Stadium Medical Pavilion.

The hospital will pay the district upward of $34,000 each year until 2030 for new artificial turf on the high school football field. In total, the $2.8 million agreement pays for naming rights, the pavilion and turf.

The hospital will pay about $700,000 in reimbursements to the district for turf installation and making "other improvements to athletic facilities," according to the contract.

The agreement also gives Atrium the responsibility of purchasing signage for the building and stadium.

The turf installation was approved in February.
