SPRINGBORO — A high-speed chase that began in Springboro and traveled to Waynesville ended peacefully in Springboro this afternoon.
At around 4 p.m., Springboro police tried to pull over a motorist near the Ohio 73 and Ohio 741 intersection for a traffic violation, according to Sgt. Aaron Zimmaro, But the driver refused to pull over his blue, two-door Cutlass Supreme and continued traveling east on Ohio 73 toward Waynesville. Once near downtown Waynesville, the driver turned around and headed back to Springboro.
The driver avoided several Stop Stick tire deflation devices until it ran over one deployed by a Franklin officer that flattened the car's right front tire. The driver maneuvered the car into the Sunoco gas station at the corner of 741 and 73, and the two male suspects exited the vehicle and ran from police.
They were apprehended nearby at the US Bank, according to Zimmaro. There were no injuries, police said.
He said both men had outstanding warrants. Police were checking to see if the car was stolen since neither man could prove ownership.
Police officers also searched the trunk and the inside of the car.
