MONROE — A substitution for watching infomercials in the middle of the night has arrived.
Anytime Fitness club is set to open its doors on June 15 in the Heritage Plaza next to Kroger at 3165 Heritage Green Drive in Monroe. Once it opens, members can visit anytime day or night — it's open 24 hours, seven days a week.

"There's a certain percentage of the population that will work second or third shift and want to be able to come in and work out when their shift is over. We're never closed," said Chad Dresnick, co-owner of the facility.
The 4,200-square-foot, private co-ed fitness facility will be open to members to work out anytime day or night with security access through a key fob when the building is not staffed. The one-time fee for the device is $25, he said.
"Once you're in the building, we have a tailgate detection system so only one person can come in on each key fob to let us know that no one is following people in," said Dresnick, of Springboro.
The key fobs also can be used by members at any of the 700 Anytime Fitness locations nationwide, he said.
The Monroe facility will be under 24-hour video surveillance, and members will be encouraged to wear medical panic alarms around their necks in case of emergency, he said.
"It's certainly optional; I'm not going to come around and stick it around your neck or anything. We would recommend that if you're working out by yourself, you wear one," he said.
There also will be panic buttons in the facility to notify police or fire personnel if necessary.
Dresnick said he and his partner Shane Williamson, of Centerville, decided to open their first franchise fitness facility in Monroe because there isn't one in the community.
"It's a great location and we're so excited to be here. It just seems like a great spot for us to start," he said.
The two also are looking at other locations to expand their fitness business, Dresnick said.
The club, which will be staffed by one manager and a couple of part-time employees, will be limited to 1,000 members to keep crowding down at the facility, Dresnick said. Thus far, he said, 250 people have signed up.
