MIDDLETOWN — Jackie Smallwood hasn't seen her son in more than 40 days, but she said she knows he's up to no good.
Now, all she wants is to get 17-year-old Evan Slifer off the streets before the unthinkable happens.

"I'm getting calls from people saying he's robbing them," Smallwood said. "I'm just afraid he's going to rob the wrong person and he's going to get shot."
Slifer was released from an Ohio Department of Youth Services detention facility March 18 and was home for less than a month before he ran out after an argument on Easter Sunday, she said. An arrest warrant was issued April 11 for violation of his parole, according to Butler County Juvenile Court.
"He's on the run," Smallwood said. "I want him off the streets because I'm scared for him."
Smallwood said Slifer has been getting in trouble since he was 12 or 13 when he fell in with a rough crowd and was exposed to drugs and alcohol.
In 2006, he stole his aunt's car and left with his twin brother Shane.
The pair weren't found until Smallwood made a public plea for anyone who saw them to call the police. She's hoping a similar plea will get her son safely behind bars this time, too.
Her sons didn't leave the city two years ago, but Smallwood worries that because Evan is older he may be hiding out farther away from home.
Still she's keeping her fingers crossed someone will see her son and call the police.
"I've never known him to get out of Middletown."
