The accident occurred about 3:15 p.m. Saturday as Thorn was traveling south on Sheehan Road, said sheriff's Sgt. Kurt Althouse. As he attempted to turn right, he apparently lost control of the motorcycle and slid into on oncoming car.
A family member told investigators Thorn had just purchased the motorcycle.
Investigators were trying to determine whether he was an experienced rider, Althouse said.
Investigators also are trying to determine if high winds at the time might have contributed to the accident, Althouse said.
Thorn was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet and other protective gear, deputies said.
