HAMILTON — Republican U.S. House Minority Leader John Boehner will headline the Butler County GOP's largest annual fundraiser Friday, May 9.

The Lincoln Day Dinner's theme will be, "An evening of presidential politics, star power and unity."

Extras

Boehner will likely stay on topic, according to officials in his office, talking about the pivotal role Butler County played in the 2004 presidential election — going for President Bush in a landslide — and the county's importance this year.

Boehner will likely also touch on his role in "earning back the majority" from House Democrats, arguing that Democrats have ratcheted up taxes and done too little to keep gas prices down since wresting control of the House in 2006.

Boehner lives in West Chester Twp. and represents the 8th Congressional District, which includes most of Butler County, as well as Darke, Miami, Preble, and parts of Mercer and Montgomery counties.

Seats are still available at the event for $125 for a dinner for one or up to $25,000 for a table of 16 and hold sponsorship at the party's annual golf outing. Call (513) 893-5292 for details.

Cocktail reception starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Savannah Center, 5533 Chappell Crossing Boulevard, West Chester Twp. Attendees may include some Ohio Supreme Court justices and State Auditor Mary Taylor.

Butler County Republican Party Chairman Tom Ellis said the evening will be "a great opportunity to network and become involved in the Butler County Republican Party."
