Flick has been a police officer for 15 months, and has worked in the villages of Elmwood Place and Arlington Heights,
both Cincinnati suburbs.
"I'm happy to be here ... I had a lot of guidance from my cousin," Flick said, referring to Jeff Barger, an officer who works in Norwood.
With Flick were members of his family, including fiance Kelli
Weber and his son, 3-year-old Brayden Flick.
Already following in his father's footsteps, Brayden was decked out in full uniform, complete with cap, as an officer of the "Department of Toyland."
Also Thursday, police Chief Carl Ray made a pitch to the council that the clerk of court office be moved to the larger main lobby opposite from the police side to improve safety at Civic Hall, 11 E. State St.
Especially on Mayor's Court nights, the police lobby becomes crowded, leading to a potentially dangerous situation, and dispatchers and civilian staff have said they feel unsafe, Ray said.
Among concerns is that the Law Enforcement Automated Data System computer is in public view, which should be kept out of sight, according to a mandate from the Ohio Attorney General.
