Body Recall available: A different approach to exercise, Body Recall is a nationally acclaimed exercise program designed to help seniors reclaim the variety of movement and strength that help make living more pleasurable. Two new classes will begin at 9 and 10:30 a.m. today at First Baptist Church, 4500 Riverview Ave. Sessions are scheduled to meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday, for 15 weeks, today-May 16. Fee is $45. Miami University Middletown sponsors immigration discussion: Miami University Middletown's Diversity Council will present a panel discussion on immigration from 12 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Campus Community Center. The panel will discuss the legal, social and humanitarian issues surrounding immigration as they impact the region and will also address legal and illegal immigration. Jewish Family Services' Director of Resettlement and Acculturation Barbara Forbus and Resettlement Coordinator Lilly Narusevic will offer information about their agency's services and the immigrant issues they confront. Lt. Rodney Muterspaw, Middletown Police Department, will describe law enforcement issues as immigration impacts them. Jackie Phillips, Director of Nursing for the Middletown City Health Department, will talk about the impact of immigrants on health services in Middletown and how the immigrants' health needs are addressed. Lea Webb, an attorney who practices immigration and family law, will present a description of immigration laws and their practical application. This event is free and open to the public. After-prom committee will convene: The first meeting of Middletown High School after-prom committee will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Donato's Pizza on Roosevelt Boulevard. All interested parents are asked to attend.

Elks 257 announce event: "Famous Pizza Night" with food cooked-to-order by the McCormicks (Pat and daughters Paula and Dana) will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Elks Lodge 257, 6475½ Trenton-Franklin Road. Dinner set: A bean dinner will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Poasttown First Church of God, 6376 Germantown Road. Cost is $5 for soup beans, fried potatoes, corn bread, drink and dessert. All proceeds will benefit the church's food pantry. Tubs also will be set out for donations of canned goods and nonperishables.
Discuss challenges: Great Decisions 2008 is a group for discovering, discussing and deciding how some of the world's greatest challenges can be met. Miami University Middletown sponsors Black History events: Miami University Middletown is sponsoring a number of events for Black History Month. All are open to the public and many are free. LeAlan Jones Lecture will be at 4 p.m. Feb. 4 at Johnston Hall Campus and Community Center. Event is free. AARP tax help not restricted to seniors: American Association of Retired People (AARP) wants people to know that its Tax Aide program is available to low and middle income taxpayers of any age, not just senior citizens. Tax Aide service will be available at a new site this year, the Monroe City Building. Hours at the new site will be from 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 7-April 10. Service will also be available at Middletown United Way building and Towne Mall. United Way site will be open Mondays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Feb. 4-April 14. Towne Mall site will be open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Feb. 5-April 15. Appointments are not needed. Taxpayers are asked to bring with them last year's state and federal returns, W-2 forms from each place worked during 2007, unemployment compensation statements, interest and dividend statements, Social Security records for 2007, child care provider information, records of quarterly tax payments and their 2007 tax package with the address label. Music scholarship auditions available: All students must be a resident of the greater Middletown area served by one of the following high schools: Middletown, Monroe, Madison, Franklin, Edgewood, Middletown Christian and Fenwick. Students may attend a private high school, but must reside in the area designated or be a member of Middletown Symphony or Middletown Youth Symphony Orchestra. Students taking private lessons from an area teacher, or those who are home-schooled and live in the area may also apply. Donate books: Middletown AAUW branch is collecting and sorting gently-used books for its upcoming annual used book sale March 14-16 at Towne Mall, next to Dillard's. The popular sale is a fundraiser for scholarships given to women and girls. All books will be individually priced with prices ranging from 10 cents to $3. Some books or CD will be priced higher. Sale includes books of all sorts from vintage books to children's books and all types of fiction and non-fiction. All books are donated by the community. Book donations are currently needed. Books may be dropped off on Tuesdays or Saturday mornings from 10 to 11:30 a.m. until the end of February. Drop donations off at loading area B at the Towne Mall, across from the Meijer store, at the far left entrance. Help is available to bring in donations. The group will also accept puzzles, games, movies and music in CD, record or even tape form.
