Police arrest man in West Chester shootings

WEST CHESTER TWP. — Police arrested a man on Friday they believe shot into several West Chester Twp. homes and at a street light in late September.
West Chester Twp. Police searched the vehicle and residence of Richard Morris, 6329 Holly Hill Lane, West Chester Twp., recovering a rifle and numerous rounds of ammunition. The rounds recovered are consistent with those fired at the homes, police said.

Morris, 29, was charged with three felony counts of improper discharge of a firearm into a home and two felony counts of knowingly discharging a firearm while in or on a motor vehicle.
He also was charged with two counts of criminal damaging and one count of making false alarms.
Police said around 10:30 p.m. Sept. 22 a township resident reported hearing a single gunshot near the intersection of Hamilton-Mason Road and Glen Farms Drive. Police said they found a street light that appeared to have been shot. Later that evening, residents at 6483 Holly Hill Lane reported a bullet was fired through a front window.
Police said the shot was fired from street level and traveled through a foyer window and through an interior wall of a bedroom. Although the residence was occupied at the time of the incident, no injuries were reported.
Police said bullets also struck homes at 8222 Lesourdsville-West Chester Road and 8843 Steeplechase Way. Both residences were unoccupied at the time of the incident.
