MIDDLETOWN — The YWCA's Dove House will pay tribute to the victims and survivors of domestic violence through its second annual candlelight vigil.
The vigil at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday will feature guest speakers and musicians at Woodside Cemetery's community room, said Melissa Kennard, manager of the domestic violence shelter that opened early this year.
Extras
The lineup so far includes guest speaker the Rev. Etta Caver, the executive director of the Dream Center, who will speak about being a domestic violence survivor, and a victim advocate for the city of Middletown. Florance Harris, a former shelter resident, will talk about her experience.
Musicians slated to perform include William "Kip" Moore and Michelle Reed, who will sing. John Berg and the True Victory Choir also will perform.
The event will take place mostly in the community room, though a candlelight vigil will take place in the cemetery later in the evening, Kennard said. Refreshments also will be available.
"This will honor the victims of domestic violence and celebrate the survivors," Kennard said.
The vigil also is being held in observance of October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month, she said.
