Judge orders supervisision for mom accused of 'shooting up' in car with babies in back seat

FRANKLIN — A mother accused of "shooting up" with her two babies in the car must be supervised when she visits her children.
Municipal Court Judge Rupert Ruppert told Amy Marie Hoff, 26 of 924 Forrest Ave., that a condition of her release without bond was that her young sons not be in her care.
"The court finds you may present a clear and present danger to your children," Ruppert said. "These allegations are serious enough for your children not to be in your custody until this matter is resolved."
Ruppert ordered the children to stay with their father and Hoff to only have supervised contact with them. He also said Warren County Children Services would investigate the case.
Hoff is accused of injecting what police believe to be heroin on April 16 while sitting in a 1992 Thunderbird parked near a Dumpster in the Franklin Commons apartments. Her two sons, ages 15 months and 2 months, where in the back seat.
Police were alerted to Hoff by a man who refused to give his name. They found a syringe, spoon and a capsule containing white powder in the car, police reports said.
Hoff pleaded not guilty Tuesday to child endangering, possession of drug abuse instruments and possession of drug paraphernalia. Charges of drug possession are pending based on the results of a lab test on the white powder.
Hoff requested a court-appointed attorney and is expected back in court May 29 for a pretrial hearing.
