As ballots in races around the nation were tallied Wednesday, Ohio Republicans who served in the majority of the U.S. House for 12 years regrouped to find out how best to handle a sea change in the U.S. Congress.
Boehner, R-West Chester Twp., became a likely candidate for House Minority Leader after House Speaker Dennis Hastert announced he would not seek the position. Boehner faces opposition from
Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind.
A source close to Boehner said he will run for the spot.
Elsewhere, Republican Reps. David Hobson of Springfield, and Ralph Regula of Navarre, looked likely to become ranking members of key appropriations subcommittees after both
lost chairmanships of their respective subcommittees — roles that give both power to control federal spending in their districts.
