Next Broad Street Bash to feature Almighty Kings

The Almighty Kings intend to rule over the third Broad Street Bash, slated for Wed., Aug. 15.
The Almighty Kings are an acoustic duo featuring Dave Thornton and Joe Booth from the band Funtime Freddy. The Almighty Kings perform acoustic versions of rock and soul classics, including "Oh! Darling" by the Beatles, "(Sittin' on) The Dock of the Bay" by Otis Redding, and "In the Midnight Hour" by Wilson Pickett.

"We love to throw in some of our original music as well," said Thornton. Booth and Thornton have been playing music together since high school. However, The Almighty Kings have only been together for about a year.
Dave and Joe were born and raised in Middletown. In 1988 they graduated together from Lemon Monroe High School. Currently, Thornton teaches guitar lessons at Road Apple Music and also is a member of the band 3 Feet Deep. Joe resides in Monroe with his wife and is a member of the band Pub Dog.
Also on the bill is the local band Edge of Life, which released its latest CD, "Automatic," in June. The group also will play at the WEBN Labor Day fireworks at 3 p.m. Sept. 2 at the Serpentine Wall in Cincinnati.
