Manifest Gallery continues to conduct the Art and Design on Film Series and is scheduled to show the fifth film June 22, 2006.
The life and career of 20th century artist Henry Darger is detailed in this latest viewing, according to a press release. Darger's career and epic 15,000-page illustrated novel, "In the Realms of the Unreal," will be the focus. It takes a look at his broad artistic style and vision and how he worked in watercolor, collage, copying, appropriation and drawings in pencil and ink.
The 82-minute film was chosen as the Competition Selection at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival, and voted the Best Documentary Feature at the 2004 Vancouver Film Festival.
A 9-minute short series of videos, entitled "Drawing Machines," will be shown just before the film. They will highlight five drawing apparatuses created by artist David Shingler.
Seating is limited to the first 16 people to arrive.
