Video Tours: Middletown's new elementary schools

You've seen them from the outside, but now you're invited inside Middletown City School's new elementary buildings.

Tours of the new buildings on South Verity Parkway, Loretta Drive and Highview Road are now being offered by the district, but you can view them from the comfort of your chair right now by clicking on the videos on the right!

What's new at the schools:

Each new building will have top-notch technology, including security cameras, computer terminals in each room and key pad entry for teachers. All three schools are 62,000 square feet, although the school on Loretta Drive is a single-story floor plan, while the other two are two stories.

Who gave design input:

Each building had a planning team made up of people living around the school. They made decisions about features of the school, like preserving and reattaching an old door frame to the school on South Verity.

Construction progress:

The schools are 60 percent complete. "There's going to be a lot of excitement when the buildings open," Bob Huber, supervisor of construction at the South Verity and Highview sites. "I know there's been a lot of frustration as students move around, but when people get in they'll realize just how nice they are."

HOW TO TAKE A TOUR:

Contact district's spokeswoman Debbie Alberico at (513) 423-0781 to sign up for a tour. Tours will be offered after 4 p.m. on weekdays and should be set up two weeks in advance.
