LOS ANGELES — Wanda Sykes and wife Alex are the parents of twins.

Sykes' publicist, Danica Smith, says the babies, daughter Olivia Lou and son Lucas Claude, were born April 27.

Smith says Alex gave birth to the twins and "all are happy and healthy and at home." The twins are the first children for the couple, who married last October.

Sykes served as the tart-tongued entertainer at Saturday's annual White House Correspondents' Association dinner. The Emmy-winning 45-year-old comedian-actress co-stars with Julia Louis-Dreyfus on CBS' "The New Adventures of Old Christine." She will host an as-yet-untitled Saturday late-night show on Fox next fall.

This is EXACTLY why this site generally does not let the local bigots comment on anything related to homosexuality. It is news, as much as any celebrity birth is news. When actors and actresses have babies, it makes the news. This is no different. Congrats to the happy family.

I can't believe the hateful comments regarding the birth of twins. There are plenty more straight people that should never have had kids. And yes gay couples (male or female) can have kids. It's called adoption or invitro. Just like infertile straight couples.

It's pretty sad when people can't be happy for anyone that has children, gay or straight.
