Caveats

iPods will only hold 1000 Notes. iEat will alert you if you've tried to download too many restaurants.

Also, the more restaurants you download the longer they will take to appear initially. The first time you select iEat from your iPod, it will take a minute to cache all the restaurants. Once it's done that, accessing the restaurant listings is instant.

Microsoft Windows XP

  1. Download "iEat" zipped file that you create from this page to your desktop, then unzip the file.
  2. Plug iPod into computer and open iTunes.
  3. In iTunes, go to Edit and Preferences, and check "Enable Disk Use."
  4. Go to MY COMPUTER and click removable iPod drive, and locate "Notes" folder.
  5. Drag the iEat folder into the Notes folder. Eject iPod once files have finished copying. (You may want to turn off "Enable Disk Use" after installing the iPod application. Enabling Disk Use causes the iPod to pause while mounting and has to be manually dismounted by the user when the user is through synching files or recharging the iPod.)
  6. To view restaurants on your iPod, select Extras > Notes > iEat.

  2. Plug iPod into computer and open iTunes.
  3. In iTunes, go to preferences and enable iPod as hard drive.
  4. Drag "iEat" folder into "Notes" folder on iPod. DISMOUNT iPod from desktop once files have finished copying.
  5. To view recipes on your iPod, select Extras > Notes > iEat.

Monthly updates of your favorite restaurant data

Don't forget to come back each month for the latest updates. To get the most recent version of the Restaurant listings, follow the instructions for enabling disk use or using it as a hard drive. Once the iPod is available on your hard drive, find the iEat directory for the previous month inside and Trash it. Download the latest version and install it per the proper instructions.
