Abortion Recovery Support Group
Community Pregnancy Center has announced an Abortion Recovery Support Group, which meets for eight weeks. It is completely confidential and free. Groups will be starting Feb. 3, May 5 and Aug. 4. The Abortion Recovery Group teaches women who have had an abortion how to process their loss and allows them to express their grief with others who have had a similar experience. Alzheimer's Senile Dementia and Caregivers

For persons with arthritis and their families. Kettering Medical Center, in cooperation with the Arthritis Foundation, offers a special program designed to provide emotional and informational support. Asthma Achievers

Bone Marrow Transplant
"Continuing the Journey Support Group" is for adults who have undergone or are considering bone marrow transplants, as well as their family members and friends. Caregiver

Caring and Sharing Cancer
This group provides opportunities for cancer patients and their family members to exchange experiences and support one another. Former patients and families are welcome. Celiac Sprue

Children's Divorce Recovery
Free programs address divorce issues with children. Programs will begin Jan. 23. Meetings are at 7 p.m. (the same time as DivorceCare Weekly Sessions) at Christ Church United Methodist, 3440 Shroyer Road, Kettering. Advance registration only. Choices
Choices is a program designed to stop abuse in intimate relationships by helping individuals recognize that they have a choice of how to respond to external behaviors. The program serves men primarily, but women who are violent are also appropriate (as long as their partners are not in the same class). It is a four-session class that is structured as follows: Session I, Anger Management; Session II, Communication Skills; Session III, Risk Factors; and Session IV, Healing Choices, Authentic Relationship, Fear, and Awareness and Expression of Feelings. Sessions meet from 6 to 10 p.m. once a week on Tuesdays for four consecutive weeks at the YWCA in Hamilton. Cost is $140. Call (513) 863-7307.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
The purpose of this support group is to provide a caring environment where people with CFIDS and their friends and family can share their experiences, methods of coping and insights into living with this disease. Different Alternatives to Discipline Parenting Class

HEALing Together
Support group for anyone who has experienced the loss of a baby through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth or newborn death, regardless of when or where that loss occurred. Kettering Kickstarters
Informal support group for patients with an Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator (ICD). Group includes patients, families, friends and expert clinical staff. Leukemia/Lymphoma

Lupus
This free support group provides information and support to individuals and families impacted by lupus. Each month a different guest speaker addresses topics of interest and concern for anyone affected by lupus. Many Shades of Blue
This group provides support and referrals for mothers who are having a difficult time adjusting to motherhood and may be suffering from post-partum depression. Family and friends are welcome. Out on a Limb Amputee
Group offers support for amputees, their families and friends, including matching a new amputee with an amputee of similar age, sex and amputation to provide support and helpful hints to new amputees. This group is for patients with peripheral nerve damage resulting in decreased sensation, ability to move, or both. Prostate Cancer Support Group meets at 7 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month in Fellowship Hall at First United Methodist Church, 120 S. Broad St. Group is free and open to all men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer and their significant others. It is a time to share information and help each other. Restless Legs
This support group provides specialized education as well as support and exchange of information for individuals, their families and friends who suffer from restless legs. Discussion includes an understanding of the various symptoms, new treatment strategies, effectiveness of non-pharmacological treatments, over-the-counter remedies and first-hand experiences with treatments and symptoms. Sense of Self

SOAR-Cancer
Strength, Optimism And Recovery, a women's breast cancer support group, focuses on the concerns and issues unique to breast cancer survivors. The group is open to all women in the community, regardless of the length of time from diagnosis. Southwest Ohio Brain Tumor

Spina Bifida

This support group encourages stroke victims and their families to understand and better cope with disabilities that can result from stroke. It offers information about strokes, the opportunity to make new friends, a forum to discuss solutions to daily problems and the chance for personal growth and improved self-esteem. Tender Hearts

United Ostomy Association, Middletown Chapter
Middletown Chapter of UOA is a support group for Ostomates and their families. What is an Ostomate? An ordinary person, who due to a medical problem, has had a surgical procedure which alters the way in which they take care of normal bodily functions. Caring, sharing and encouragement, all essential elements of the human experience may be found in a diversity of groups designed to develop a network of support through an exchange of information and experiences. Most groups give participants time for open discussion, questions/answers and socializing.
