Oakwood coffee shop closes
OAKWOOD — The Select Start Cafe at 2515 Far Hills Ave in The Shops of Oakwood, which we wrote about back in March shortly after it opened, has closed, according to its web site and to customers.
“This is not a goodbye forever,” co-founder Anthony J. Canterbury said in a message to customers on the coffee shop’s web site. “As many of you know, circumstances have suddenly arisen and we are now being forced to leave the Shops of Oakwood. As we regroup and figure out where to go with the shop and our lives we shall keep everyone informed. We deeply appreciate all of the support and love that we have received from so many of you. This has been a beautiful experiment.”
On Friday, the coffee shop’s Facebook page said that talks to renew the shop’s lease had “fallen apart.”
Select Start offered free high-speed WiFi and sold coffees, teas and fruit smoothies along with some food items.
