Clayton restaurant closes after 10 weeks
CLAYTON — Plate O’ Noodles, which replaced Artisans Cafe in early August at 8351 N. Main St. in the Randolph Plaza, has closed after only about 10 weeks in business.
Pam Heintz, who was co-owner of both Artisans Cafe and Plate O’ Noodles, said slow sales were the driving factor behind the decision to close the most recent restaurant. The closing affected two employees, Heintz said.
Plate O’ Noodles featured noodle dishes from Asia, Italy and America. The restaurant traces its roots to 2004, when Joe and Pam Heintz purchased a restaurant called Flavors Eatery — at 725 W. Wenger Road in Englewood. They expanded the seating from 10 tables to 25 in 2006, changed the restaurant’s name to Artisans Cafe in 2007, and later moved the restaurant to its current location in Clayton. The owners also briefly operated a second restaurant at Ohio 725 and Ohio 741 near the Dayton Mall in 2009.
Heintz said she and her husband Joe are launching a personal chef-type of business, as yet unnamed, that will include “cooking classes in your home” that will focus on nutrition, weight loss, fitness and healthy cooking.
The couple also plans to publish an Artisans Cafe cookbook of healthy recipes.
