Kettering restaurant will close May 3

KETTERING — Barbie’s Bistro will cease operations on May 3, according to its owner, Barbie Marks.

Marks, who opened her namesake restaurant at 1122 E. Dorothy Lane in June 2008, said slow business was the primary factor in her decision to shut down. She has tried to sell the restaurant in recent months, and recently lowered the price to $40,000, but has had no takers, Marks said.

“It really breaks my heart to close the doors,” she said.

The restaurant will continue its “10 Dinners Under $10” special offer through May 3 and will have beer and drink specials, but is not planning any other sort of events to mark the closing.

Marks said she will always remember her customers.

“This has always been my dream, and the people I have met over the last two years made my dream as enjoyable as it could have been. I wish the business could have been better,” Marks said.

The restaurant owner said she is about to start a new job at the Hope Hotel at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

To reach the restaurant, call (937) 262-7300.
