New restaurant coming to Miller Lane
Fricker’s is preparing to open a restaurant in the former Joe’s Crab Shack at 6834 Miller Lane in Butler Twp., according to Butler Twp. and Fricker’s officials.
The restaurant has tentatively planned a VIP party for March 17, although that date is somewhat in doubt, said Paul Curtis, director of human resources and franchising for the Miamisburg-based chain of restaurants.
Curtis declined to discuss any other aspect of the new restaurant, saying that Fricker’s owner Ray Frick did not want any other information released. The new location is listed on Fricker’s web site as “coming soon.”
Jeff Bothwell, development director for Butler Twp., said the company filed routine documents regarding the renovation of the former Joe’s Crab Shack, and confirmed that the restaurant chain is shooting for a March 17 private unveiling.
Today, March 3, restaurant officials were interviewing job applicants, and banners proclaiming that Fricker’s is “Now Hiring” were posted at the restaurant’s entrance. Workers were busily renovating the restaurant’s interior.
The restaurant would be Fricker’s 17th in Ohio and 19th total, according to the restaurant chain’s web site.

This new Fricker’s is targeting a market that hasn’t been seen yet on Miller. The area is experiencing a boom and to continue that growth Frickers was looked at as an asset. The one in Vandalia already is not an issue because it is one of the first and VERY small. This new one in the Vandalia-Butler area is to attend to the people who stay in the 16 hotels on Miller Lane. Every weekend, Singer Properties has said that there are at least 1600 people staying in hotel rooms on Miller alone. Vandalia-Butler is growing and the area past Benchwood right down Miller Lane is owned by Vandalia. The city has now zoned the entire area as future commercial purposes. And don’t worry. It won’t be a strip mall atmosphere. The goal in the future is create a lifestyle center with more multi-story buildings. Similar to the Greene but less congested.By b

FYI the one in Moraine is gonna be rebuilt!! The problem is they don’t own the land…. they are trying to purchase it now. Probably a money issue… property owners usually believe that theirs is worth more than it really is!! Hopefully they will get it worked out and get the re-building going!By Rusty

InsiderInfo: I don’t blame them. Moraine is a bit trashy. The new York Commons area is a lot nicer, cleaner, much safer. It is a strip mall type center which is a bit unwelcoming but I prefer that area to Moraine (and I live closer to Moraine).By InsiderInfo

They need to place a few stores in Cincinnati. There are more than enough restaurant closings here to support their expansion.By Rusty

ANOTHER Frickers??? There is already one 2 exits up and there is one in Troy another 5 exits up from the one in Vandalia. Are they going for one every 5 miles or something? I don’t even like their wings - their mild sauce is basically nothing but melted butter - ew.By Vonda Shephard

That’s all good and well- but WHEN, oh WHEN, are they going to re-build MY Fricker’s? The one that burnt down… remember? We miss our Chicken Chunks and beer within walking distance!By MJ

So have they started rebuilding the one that burned down on 741? Only asking because that was a fun place. The one on 725 well unless you frequent there often you tend to be overlooked by the staff. Hopefully this one does as well as their other locations have.By Arthur

This is good news. Making use of a currently vacant building, adding to the Dayton area workforce, and adding a restaurant to the area!
