Chicken Louie’s ‘temporarily closed’

(Looking for restaurants that are open on Thanksgiving Day or to add yours to the list? Click here to go straight to it.)

Chicken Louie’s has “temporarily closed” its restaurant at 865 N. Main St., just north of downtown Dayton.

A hand-written sign posted on plywood covering the restaurant’s carry-out window reads, “Temporarily Closed,” and offers a phone number and a first name for those who wish to call for more information.

Phone calls to that number on Wednesday, Nov. 19, and this morning, Nov. 20, were not returned.

Not sure about the great chicken part. My family and I used to go there often, but the last few times the food was horrid, spoiled and looked as if it had been sitting around awhile. We’ve not been back in several months. If they do reopen lets hope its better then before.

I did see the CNN story “GM plant’s closing like death knell in Dayton” yesterday. Mayor McLin obviously neglected to mention that bit of national attention at last night’s Commission meeting. Isn’t Chicken Louie’s where 100 people gathered with guns at 4AM the same night there was a ruckus outside the Mont. Co. Fair this year?

Consider this….THERE WOULDN’T BE AS MANY “OBAMA SUPPORTERS” and OBAMA WOULDN’T HAVE BEEN ELECTED PRESISDENT OF THE USA IF BUSH WOULD HAVE DONE HIS JOB!!!!! EVER THINK ABOUT HOW THINGS COULD HAVE BEEN WITH GORE OR KERRY AS PRESIDENT….MAYBE GM MIGHT STILL BE IN DAYTON…EVER THINK ABOUT THAT WHILE YOU’RE EATING YOUR BIG MAC????

Dayton’s problems started long before bush, even clinton. The weak mayoral and strong city manager form of government dayton has used since the beginning has been dayton’s demise.

Sorry Scott, your WRONG. The greed of wall street why the economy is down the tubes. Maybe if the mortgage brokers hadn’t talked people into loans that they couldn’t afford and then bet on the very loans that they gave out, we wouldn’t be in this mess. It is easy to blame Dems and Repubs, but it is the brokers and banks. Ultimately, pure greed. The article was about a restaurant.

Thank you Scott!!! No one wants to think about how EVERYTHING was Bush’s fault. It’s easy to blame EVERYTHING on ONE person…. look at all the facts before you comment! There’s NO possible way that this countrys mess is due to ONE MAN! DUH think about it people!!! Sorry about Chicken Louie’s - I’ve never been there and I don’t have a clue as to where it is.

And for people who’ve never been there because you’re “scared” why are you commenting? If you’ve never been there, and you dont care-keep going! The article was not written for you, and no one cares about you whiny, crybaby opinion. Everyone’s entitiled to a “stupid moment” but some of you are really abusing the privilege! Get a life!

I’m not surprized another establishment has closed it’s doors on N. Main St. For years, the citizens of Dayton tolerated an abortion clinic at 1681 N. Main. Thousands upon thousand of future Daytonians had their lives snuffed out there. Now there’s just a shell of what may have been. Bad “choices” sometimes have unattended consequences.

Gosh, move Chicken Louie’s over south of town, maybe to Springboro. Bet all the folks on that side of town would love their food. Real soul food. You people are ignorant. Chicken Louie’s is great, the location is fine if you just mind your own business. It’s stupid uninformed comments like that that make you sound like morons. Hurry back Louie’s. We like you!

Yeah, a community prayer vigil is what we need. Look at how that worked when all the Reich-wing christians prayed for “hurricane force wind and rain” to ruin Obama’s speech at the DNC in Denver (Ha ha! Look how THAT turned out!) — it couldn’t have been a more perfectly beautiful night! And in California they defeated the gay marriage issue and god punished those anti gay marriage voters with massive destructive fires. Looks like god doesn’t care about Dayton at all and loves Obama and hates the anti gay Californians. At least according to your shallow supersticious thinking. You ignorant “christians” have it all backwards…you’re the ones who are messed up praying for special favors like god is some stupid vending machine.

What in the hell are you people talking about? That area of Dayton is the most unsafe area in town. One day we were going to go there for lunch, saw a bunch of young kids “hanging out” there. Pulled in the lot saw them and left. I did not feel safe at all. It has nothing to do about color of the people, just how they eyed us as we pulled in.

I love blogs! Just to set the record straight about Dayton and why it’s failing is because Dayton is a manufacturing based city and manufacturing is on the way out. Not just in Dayton, everywhere manufacturing is headed out of the country to cheaper labor providing countries. That my friends is the truth. Blame it on who you will, but the city of Dayton and surrounding areas believe they can substitute the manufacturing work with retail or food services. It doesn’t work that way and it’s not surprising another place closes in the area. Finally, I am very glad Obama was elected and hope that he can do well in office. You may not like him, but he’s everyone’s president now and it would be wise to support him and not stand opposed when we are in dire need of help. I sincerely hope he can bring the change and success the country needs.

Another one bites the dust. The blame should be placed on everyone-not just Dems who have had control for 2 of 8 years with a Republican President. Greedy CEO’s, people who bought homes they couldn’t afford- the banks that knowingly loaned them the money and everyone else who turned a blind eye. Bush should be held accountable as well, I think the war has about drained us dry. I can’t wait for Obama to take office- he is for small businesses so maybe Chicken Louie’s will be able to make it.

Bush is not the reason Louie’s Closed, and neither is Obama. Neither of them have anything to with this, or the economy for that matter. Obama is not going to bail us out, because its not his job, and it wasnt Bush’s job. Quit pointing fingers. I can see now the skid marks in the parking lot.. PUNK! Wasn’t nobody thinkin about you. I have never had a problem there. The economy is in bad shape right now, why is it that everytime some place in Dayton goes out of business all the ANTI-DAYTON people have to put RACIAL remarks on here? WE don’t say make assumptions everytime one of your businesses closes, it would be more realistic if we put it all out there and said “oh that business closed in the SUBURBS, the owner(s) must have been strung out! Grow up and realize that the economy is not where it should be, and it’s going to take a black man to clean up all the mess that the white men have created all these years.. And that is REAL!

All of you should wake up. Dayton, OH is a joke. With the current leadership of the Mayor, I am sure it will be non existent in the near future. As for the CNN article about the auto industry…not feeling to much sympathy for people who make on an average of $60/hour plus benefits. I also read that GM pays $22 million…yes million per month for Viagra prescriptions for retired workers…now that is mismanaging at it’s best.

It makes me sick to see people writing that Obama will fix everything…. he has nothing to do with Chicken Louie’s closing. This is something that the local government needs to get a grip on before every business closes up. And being in the criminal justice field…. yes, some of this does have to do with the location of retail establishments! If they can’t keep customers then they will close!!!
