Marijuana issue may go to ballot
The Ohio Ballot Board decided Wednesday that a proposed constitutional amendment concerning medical marijuana is a single issue.
The ruling clears the way for backers to begin collecting the required 385,253 valid voter signatures to make it onto the statewide ballot this fall. The amendment seeks to allow patients to legally use marijuana as a medical therapy.

walk in my shoes for one day. better yet….come over and watch me trying to get my shoes on and walk in them myself.Stop looking at this for anything other than help for those who need it. I don’t drink and prescription drugs have so many side effects and do so much damage to my kidneys and other organs. I just want to stop hurting. Nerve pain is almost unbearable some days. Think of the PAIN people are suffering from. What if it was someone you loved?

How can you in good conscience say that marijuana is bad for people. I have known people all my life that died from drug overdoses, and not one of them was caused by smoking a ‘lil weed. You can be as hypocritical about this as you want, but I’m willing to bet that if you or someone you love was diagnosed with cancer and had to undergo painful, horrible chemo treatments, you’ll be the first one in line at the dope mans house. Marijuana has been PROVEN to help people in so many different ways. Have you ever seen a chemo patient suffer because they cannot eat and are in constant pain? Its not pretty, and if smoking a joint will give them an appetite and relieve a little pain, then who are we to stop them? I think before you jump all over the “pots bad” train, you should educate yourselves on the benefits first. Being a hypocrite does nothing but make you look ignorant!

If doctors are willing to prescribe pot for therapy I recon it is fine to put up for a vote. Y’all makin remarks about getting off the point are Obamaites? I would’nt vote for Obama to clean the court bathrooms. He is telling how many jobs have been created as though it is the truth. George Soros has destroyed economies in other countries and is now supporting OBama. Obama will destroy our liberties and we will need the pot to smoke for therapy! Vote OBumer out in 2012!

Why don’t we just legalize everything from stealing candy to mass murder? Society seems to resist or reject anything that looks like a boundary for behavior or morals. It is a shame that the system may soon be able to prescribe marijuana for a infected splitter sore. I say get rid of the panty-waste judges and parole boards while starting fight crime in a serious way rather than throwing the towel with legalization.

I’m not sure about the benefits from its legal use. But the taxpayers have been taking a beating financially for nearly fifty years trying to stop its use, and seemly getting nowhere. Other than a few major busts that make good press, the problem continues. Tax payers are spending a fortune on legal resorces such as: police officer’s time, court appointed lawers, jail space, medical attention, food, rehab programs, special drug courts, and whatever else happens to the user. No one likes to give in to a problem, but perhaps it is time to regulate and tax marijuana as we did alcohol to end prohibition. Perhaps the legalization would put the major suppliers (many foreign)out of business and even boost the economy.

I’m going to be honest…I don’t like marijuana, and until a few months ago I was completely against it. When my brother was diagnosed with leukemia I did research non-stop and learned that the best thing to help him is marijuana once it is turned into an oil. The only way we can get the hemp oil legally is if marijuana becomes legal for medical use. Watch Rick Simpson sometime on youtube.com My brother will be saved if this passes…if not…then I will probably lose him.

Legalizing Marijuana would be ok if it is treated as a controlled substance. Tighten controls by real doctors who actually examine patients for the need. Not like in California where everybody who pretends to need it gets it “prescribed” by “doctors” who for enough pay provide the “prescription”. Let pharmacies dispense the medical marijuana not “clinics/stores”. As for Obama, I believe he will knock himself out of re-election. If enough people review his 2008 promises and compare them to his actual attempts and so-called accomplishments, the reality of the situation with expose itself.

For those of you claiming its a “non-addictive” drug, I will disagree. I was a pot smoker for the past 17 years and 9 days ago I decided to quit…after 3 days I started to go into withdrawals, which I am still dealing with but still clean/sober. I WILL sign any petition to legalize it for medical use, but please do not think that just b/c it is pot it isn’t addictive.

I hate to point this out but even if this does pass which it probably will, the federal government will step in and bust everyone involved. Look what they did in Montana, even though the people overwhelmingly voted for it to be legal the feds stepped in arrested people and shut down distribution centers. I for one remember Obama saying he would not do that but its happening everywhere the people voted to make it legal. Its a very sad day that the Federal government no longer respects the will of the people.

Against any presidential candidate either party can dig up. Its like someone lying on their resume to get a job they aren’t qualified for and then realize they don’t know what they’re doing once they’re hired. Its not about the job, its about getting it. Any kind of marijuana should be legalized. I used it as a kid but I haven’t touched it in years. Still doesn’t make me think its any more dangerous than alcohol or cigarettes. Lets authorities concentrate on bigger more damaging drugs.

It never ceases to amaze me that people make such strong statements of opinion on a subject that they have no clue about. I am a 43 year old mom who has smoked pot for years. I call it my prozac. I work everyday, pay my bills on time and other than buying pot I am a law abiding citizen. I also do not take one prescription medication. I feel it should be my choice how to medicate my body and will support any bill that gives me that choice. The pharmaceutical companies are in bed with politicians conspiring to keep us all sick and dependant on man made drugs. God put marijuana on this earth for a reason and that is good enough for this pot smoking mom:)

Legalize it… How many dealers are out there collecting from our welfare system while selling marijuana and making thousands on the side? Force them to report their income and pay taxes on it like the rest of us, and leave the welfare for those who really need it and can’t get it for lack of available funding! Make them contribute to society instead of living off our hard earned tax dollars, and cut down on crime also in the process…

I say legalize it! I was prescribed it in the ‘80’s for my Lupus & arthritis pain even though the doctor knew it was illegal. Many fellow Lupies bought it illegally & it helped them tremendously to ease the pain enough to make it through the day. If my Lupus ever gets to the critical stage again I hope marijuana is legal because I’m allergic to most pain meds & the one’s I can take are too strong. Don’t get me wrong, I’m opposed to the illegal sale of it.

Also, to those who say “tax it high”, remember that if the taxes are too high, the price of legal pot will be equal to or higher than the street price of illegal pot. If part of the goal is to get it out of the hands of organized crime, the legal price needs to be low enough that it’s not profitable for criminals.

To those who say growing it would still be illegal, read the language of the proposed change: “(E) Eligible residents shall have the right to produce their own medical Cannabis … without fear of arrest, prosecution or undue interference by the state.” I see no problem with that, but thought somebody should clarify it.

Sorry Harold, nobody out there that can beat the President. It’s sad the GOP has nothing better to offer. Hopefully the marijuana vote is passed. Many people use the anti-inflammatory agents in THC for arthritis pain, instead of pain pills with many bad side affects. Plus it would lower crime rates, and probably pay off the national debt.

VOTE YES! Marijuana needs to be legalized period. First, it would bring a multibillion dollar industry to the US. In turn means more jobs. Legalizing marijuana would actually SAVE our government and TAXPAYERS money! Why spend money arresting/jailing people for petty marijuana charges when there are more hardened criminals walking around free? Personally, I would rather cops focus their attention getting the crack/meth cookers/dealers off the streets. If people would do a little research and stop being so judgmental about “POT” it’s amazing what you’ll learn. Cigarettes and alcohol are worse for your health than marijuana. More people are killed yearly by alcohol related accidents and yet it’s still legal. Marijuana has been used for cancer patients who can’t tolerate the chemicals in prescription pharmaceutical medications. Legalize it, Regulate it, Tax it. VOTE YES!!

I think it will pass. Medical marijuana legalization has wide support. There is even wide support for non-medical use. I would certainly support it and I don’t even use tobacco. The criminalization of marijuana costs tax payers billions of dollars. Legalize it, regulate it, tax it. People say it a “gateway” drug. Our current and two previous presidents have used it. Is that where the gateway goes? People say legalizing it would bring the cost down so there would be very little tax revenue. Like we don’t get much tax revenue from tobacco and alcohol? Do it!
