Clinton backers organize to protest sexism
Democrat Hillary Clinton’s supporters in Ohio and three other crucial swing states in the presidential election - Pennsylvania, Florida and Michigan - have organized to protest what they consider to be her unfair treatment, particularly from the Democratic Party.
The group, “Clinton Supporters Count Too”,held a press conference on Thursday, May 15, in downtown Columbus.
“We are a grassroots group of mostly women, all races, all demographics, that have reached the boiling point and have decided we cannot stand by and watch the huge amount of sexism and misogyny go unremarked,” Cynthia Ruccia of Bexley, a Columbus suburb, who’s part of the group in Ohio, said before the press conference.
The group has no connection to the Clinton campaign, said Ruccia.
At the press conference, the group will announce plans to campaign through the four swing states against the Democratic candidate for president if it’s not Clinton, a press release said.

Amen, Joe. Hillary is a terrific candidate and has clearly proven herself capable of winning. The only media bias is for whichever candidate is not the frontrunner. We have two great candidates, one of them was bound to lose and not by much. It is an insult to Hillary to paint her as the victim. She’s tough and smart, and I would have voted for her if she had gotten the nom. I am a woman in my thirties who has experienced lower pay, sexual harassment and sexual assault. My cause is not for women. It is for women and men, boys and girls, the uneducated and the poor. I understand the struggle for all, and I am lucky enough to have been able to take for granted the rights awarded me and my sisters by our mothers and grandmothers. Just as the feminists that made the final push for the vote in 1920 had changed and evolved from the original suffragists of the 19th century, life will transcend the ideas that came before and sacrifice some along the way. I look forward to when I do place a vote for our first woman president, I think it truly will be “post-feminist”, and I have faith that it will be for a woman that I believe in as much as I believe in Barack Obama today.By Ethel S.

I agree that we are really behind in gender equity with women only earning $.77 for each dollar a man earns. For many women, you can be proud of Hillary Clinton as a Presidential candidate because she is the only woman candidate to ever win a primary and she has won many. And she is doing this for all of us women. How many times was Hillary asked to end her campaign when it was so close and how many times was Romney, Huckabe, and Ron Paul asked to end their campaigns? Why should the woman candidate be asked to quit, when the others were much further behind. Sen. Obama has hid behind the elite Dems and DNC rules not to count FL and MICH votes because he would not agree to a revote as he lost those states and it was not in HIS best interest to do a redo. However, this shows a true lack of leadership because he will need those votes in the Fall if he gets the nomination. And for the women who want to know how to unite against this sexism, see who shows the best example for advancing the causes for women. It is only a beginning through. There is a lot work for women to do to get involved and follow the inspiring example of Hillary Clinton who has set the stage and has shown great strength and courage in the face of several challenges.By I hear ya Babs

Well, I was always taught “if you see a good fight, get in it.” But at this time I look forward more to the arranged marriage of the two dem candidates. And yes, to all the Obamafied, they will run together. So put that in your silly sticks and suck them!By barbara

How can I join the protests? Obama is not winning fairly and squarely and something has to be done about it.By Diane

This is ridiculous. It is amazing the excuses people will come up with because things are not working out the way that they want. Get a life. Hilary lost because someone has to lose. They both could not win.By You go Girls

Great! It really is sad what the media has done to Hillary in this race! But of course the media is no ones friend. I think both candidates have found that out. I guess the gender card outweighs the race card that has been thrown in. Shame shame shameBy Joe

So the best way to protest sexism and misogyny is to campaign for an anti-woman, anti-choice candidate? Interesting strategy.By Susan

First of all I am a women. This race is being ran fair. For Hillary’s people to say it hasn’t is not true. Hillary agreed to the rules about Michigan and Florida. This goes to show you that Hillary will do anything to win. Obama has ran a fair race. So to protest, makes Hillary’s people look really bad. It makes them look like they don’t care how they win as long as Hillary wins. This is one reason why I didn’t vote for Hillary. She don’t care how she wins as long as she wins.
