Democrat Kilroy calls for Dann to resign

Franklin County Commissioner Mary Jo Kilroy, the Democratic candidate in one of the state’s most closely watched U.S. House races, has called for Democratic Attorney General Marc Dann to resign.

While Republicans have called for Dann to resign, Kilroy is believed to be among the first high-profile Democratic officeholders to call for her fellow Democrat to leave office in the wake of the sexual harassment scandal that has rocked Dann’s office.

“Sexual harassment can’t be tolerated. As a mother of two daughters of about the same age as those in the press accounts, I am appalled that those in power would abuse their authority in such a shameful way. Marc Dann (pictured) should resign and he should do so quickly,” Kilroy said in a statement released Sunday, May 4.

“The actions of the Attorney General and several of his top officials have damaged the trust that people should have in their elected officials.

In service to the people of Ohio, Marc Dann should resign and allow a new Attorney General to take on the important duties of attorney general without the distraction of lawsuits, scandals, and further investigations.”

Kilroy is running for the U.S. House in the 15th District against Republican state Sen. Steve Stivers.

The Congressional District encompasses western Franklin County and the city of Columbus and all of Madison and Union counties.

As the highest ranking law enforcement authority, in the State of Ohio, Marc Dann should step down. Also, the democratic party, of which I have been a member all my life, should lead the investigation into whether there were any laws broken or not. We have been preaching to the masses that we could run things better than the Republicans. Now we need tough leadership to step in and appoint another person to carry on the State’s business, while Mr. Dann faces whatever justice is due to him. This will show the people of Ohio that the Democrats are willing to do whatever it takes to do the right thing.

Of course he should resign… but will he? I doubt it, just as Bill Clinton should have resigned, but didn’t. I’m actually amazed that Democrats - the same ones who said “it’s just about sex” and supported Clinton in the face of multiple sexual harrassment allegations - are now calling for him to go. Shame on him - and the voters who elected him - when he and everyone else knew (or should have known) that he was unqualified for the office in the first place. His actions just prove it. He should go NOW.

He’s in charge and therefore responsible for the operation of his area.Since he is the head honcho, if his subordinates have to go, he has to go. The Dems must force him out to have any credibility with the public. Otherwise, they look like Republicans here in Butler Cty. with all of the corruption and nepotism that they are famous for.And as we all know, the last thing you want to look/act like is a Republican.

Wow, I remember when this guy ran for Atty General for Ohio. People refused to listen to the fact that this guy really wasn’t qualified to be AG or the fact that his past was brutally checkered. It was a “Hey, let’s vote Democrat!” day in Ohio and now everyone suffers. I’ve heard Dann’s wife speak before. Honestly, I think she knew about it already and was just hiding it. She always dodged questions on issues dealing with his extramarital life.

The polls must have just come in…expect a sudden flurry of condemnation any minute. Of course, that assumes there is still a moral or spine left in the democrat party.

Finally, one democrat has found her voice. Shame on all that fail to join Ms. Kilroy in calling for Dann’s resignation.

Why is there any question as to whether or not Dann resigns….The polictics in the state of Ohio have bcome the laughing stock of the nation. First A convicted felon remains our governor full term and now there are doubts about Dann having integrity to continue in office. HE HAS TO GO…NOW!

This crap goes on whenever you mix 40 year old men with 26 year old women. It’s not sexual harassment, it’s gold diggers getting something and it’s geezers who the women otherwise wouldn’t look at twice getting something. Dan should go, not for doing a 26 year old, but because he has hired the most incompetent group imagineable. When even the top dog admits he ran for and won a job that he wasn’t/isn’t prepared for there is a real problem. Who in the democrat party vets these people to make sure they can do the job their being supported for?

Yes, he needs to go. He’s acting too much like a Republican; talking about values to get elected then once in office, living with a sense of entitlement.

No. It’s a hazard being a good looking Democrat. I used to be, so I know. I’ve burned through three marriages, that was expensive! Now that I vote Republican, women no longer come up to me in Krogers demanding sex. He is just a Democrat, lighten up.

I feel that if a common man can go to loose his job for sexual harament then all of these peaple that hold any office should loose their job and pay the same price as you and I. They should be held to a higher standard if they are in office. If they can’t just do their job and not carry on with these women then give it to a person that will do their job. “NO MORE REHAB FOR THEM, IF YOU CAN DO THE CRIME THEN LET THEM DO THE TIME”.

I think Marc Dann should step down. having an affair is one thing and he needs to make amends with his wife for that, but the other issues at hand, such as the sexual harassment is what bothers me most. He knew and tolerated until the two women brought it to the publics attention (I commend them for that). Dann has stated that he doesn’t have the experience to be doing the job he’s doing. I think that’s very clear with what has happen. This behavior didn’t happen when Betty Montgomery was in office. The people of Ohio deserve better than this, Mr. Dann do the right thing and step down. If this would be anyone else, charges would have been filed and action taken towards that person, why is this different?
