This is count week for Edgewood

This is not the week for Edgewood students to take a “vacation day.”

A few entries ago, I told you that some local schools are rescheduling their count weeks after having to close for snow last week.

Ohio schools have a “count week” every October and February, a week during which attendance is recorded for the state to use in figuring how much funding each district receives.

I heard back from Edgewood schools, who had already scheduled to have count week Feb. 9 to Feb 13.

The school was closed last week as scheduled for voting. Edgewood was the only issue on the ballot on Tuesday as they went before voters for a bond issue to build a new high school.

The board had already ask and been granted a count week waiver form the Ohio Department of Education, said Edgewood Treasurer Randy Stiver.
