From the press briefing on the governor’s education plan
I’m at a press briefing on the governor’s education plan right now with policy adviser John Stanford and other media from around the state.
Stanford said, if passed, the proposal would take at least two years to put in place.
The new plan draws on other nation’s best practices. Stanford quoted a motto from another country “thinking schools, learning nation.”
He said Ohio will change its standards to focus narrow and deep and really allow teachers and students to explore subjects… not jumping around so much from one topic to another.
Something I found interesting was the focus on bringing families into the learning process, even having someone at every school district that would communicate with families.. even making sure they are at family fun nights.
Now we’re on to funding…
