Free food, supplies, fun this weekend

Middletown families can celebrate the back to school season this weekend with free school supplies, food and plenty of fun activities.

The Together We Can Frederick Douglass Park Back to School Celebration is set for 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17.

Students can pre-register for their free supplies - pencils, rulers, folders and more - beginning at 2:30 p.m. The celebration was first organized last year and drew more than 250 attendees.

This year, families can look forward to the same free food and activities, like cornhole and entertainment from local youth church organizations, Edwards said.

Where: Douglass Park, 800 Lafayette Ave., Middletown

When: 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, pre-registration for supplies begins at 2:30 p.m.
