Traveling meetings will resume next school year
All Middletown school board meetings will be held at the district’s central offices this summer with the traveling board meetings resuming at the start of next school year, according to district communications specialist Debbie Alberico.
In April, the board announced it would be taking the show on the road, so to speak, for the first meeting, or the work session meeting, of each month, held the second Monday. In May, the first meeting of the month was held at Amanda Elementary. The board did a tour and had Amanda students do the pledge and some of the kids had made decorations for the gym for the meeting. Other than that, it was a typical meeting just in another location.
Because school is not in session, all meetings in June, July and August will be at the district’s central offices on Girard Avenue, said Alberico. The traveling meetings will resume most likely in September.
The traveling meetings were an idea proposed by the Rev. Greg Tyus, board president, on the campaign trail last fall as a way to foster better communication with the community.
