Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day!

Today is the 38th annual celebration of the planet we call home, and a day to step back and think about things we can do to preserve and restore our natural resources…

So that’s the official line on Earth Day, but I want to know: what do YOU think about Earth Day?

Is it a time to reflect on accomplishments?

A time to call for more action?

Or something in-between?

Send a post, let us know, then go outside and do something good for the planet.

Community gardening

I learned this week that Dutchland Woods subdivision in Liberty Twp. is in the process of developing a community garden. I’m still learning details, but basically the idea is that community members each get sections of a plot to work, with excess produce going to benefit local food banks.

It’s a neat idea, and I wonder if anyone’s doing it in West Chester Twp.

Grass can suck down a lot of water, and takes a fair bit of maintenance to keep pretty. Given the amount of common space owned by subdivisions, churches, apartment complexes, etc. around the township, I wonder how much tasty, homegrown produce could come out of a good season in the township.

Are you part of a community garden? Know of one in the township? if so, post a comment and spread the word.
