Shuck Projects 4 D-I Dayton Teams in Playoffs

In his latest “Shuck’s Projections”, the Harbin guru (Steve Shuck) projects Northmont, Wayne, Centerville and Fairmont as Region 4 playoff qualifiers. That’s unheard of when you consider Cincinnati’s supremacy in the past. GWOC commissioner Eric Spahr has to be smiling with four of his schools in the chase.

Said Shuck: “GWOC benefits from unexpected results. Centerville and Fairmont occupied positions one and eight at this time last week. Northmont was less than a point behind Fairmont and was followed by Wayne. Playing without their No. 1 quarterback, the Warriors had struggled to score, but found a way to put some points on the board and the result has them back in the top eight. Northmont knocked off last week’s leader Centerville. When the dust cleared, Dayton’s big school league has four possible qualifiers.

The projected final totals in Region 4 follows: Colerain (31.48 at 9-1), Elder (29.56 at 9-1), Northmont (28.65 at 9-1), Wayne (27.63 at 7-3), Centerville (26.20 at 7-3), Fairmont (24.65 at 7-3), Woodward (24.58 at 10-0) and Harrison (23.15 at 6-4).

Elder has the easiest road, closing with Cleveland Benedictine (3-5) and Western Hills (3-4).

Shuck has St. Xavier ninth and on the bubble, followed by Middletown, Sycamore and Moeller.

Dunbar is on pace for Week 11 while Trotwood is likely qualifier if it wins out…

In Region 8, Division II Shuck projects Winton Woods (30 at 9-1), Tecumseh (28.50 at 10-0, Turpin (26.20 at 9-1), Anderson (25.90 at 8-2), Kings (23.35 at 7-3), Edgewood (20.15 at 8-2), Dunbar (19.12 at 9-1) and Trotwood-Madison (16.88 at 5-5). Bellbrook is 11th (12.90) and is “still looking for that big point win to jump over the line (into the elite eight).

Shuck was one of the first to make computerized projections, starting two decades ago.
