Tailback Kenny Watson re-joined the Cincinnati Bengals roster on Tuesday, Oct. 7, taking the roster spot of linebacker Darryl Blackstock, who is suspended for the next four games for violating league policy on performance-enhancing substances.
The NFL notified the Bengals of Blackstock’s suspension earlier today.
Blackstock, a fourth-year NFL player who signed in the offseason as a free agent from Arizona, will not be allowed to attend meetings, practice or play for the period of Games 6-9. He will be eligible to return to team activities on Nov. 10, the Monday before the Bengals host the Philadelphia Eagles on Nov. 16.
Blackstock has played in all five games. He has three tackles on defense and one on special teams.
“I’ve apologized to my coaches and teammates for an unfortunate mistake,” Blackstock said in a statement issued by the team’s public relations department. “I did not intentionally violate the policy, but I know it’s my responsibility to use only approved nutritional supplements, and I didn’t realize I was taking an over-the-counter product that included a banned substance. I also want to apologize to our fans, and I’ll do everything I can to be ready to come back strong next month.”
Watson (6-0, 220; Penn State) is a seventh-year NFL veteran who played for the Bengals from 2003 through Game 4 of this season. He was released on Saturday only to be re-signed three days later.
Watson was Cincinnati’s leading rusher in 2007 with career highs of 763 rushing yards and 1,137 yards from scrimmage. In Games 1-4 this year, he had 32 rushing yards on seven carries (a 4.6 average) and two receptions for three yards.
Also on Tuesday, the Bengals signed rookie cornerback Simeon Castille to the practice squad.
Castille (6-0, 195; Alabama) originally signed with the Bengals as a college free agent on May 2.
He was the only college free agent to make the season-opening roster, and he played in Games 1-4, with six tackles. He was waived from the roster on Friday, Oct. 3.

Has MB ever stated or recently stated his goals for a winning team? (Something like the Reds owner did a few weeks ago, in asking the fans to be forgiving as he seeks to improve the Cincinati Reds).By John
